To protect honey produced and sold, a palynology and DNA database was initiated so that pollen within honey could be characterised and recognised as of the region. The focus was on the main kinds of honey harvested from the forest trees, Jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata), Marri (Corymbia calophylla), Powder bark (Eucalyptus accedens) and Yate (Eucalyptus occidentalis), all endemic to the southwest of Western Australia.
